The first “Dickens of a Christmas” was held on the Market Place
on 10th December 1995, since when it has grown from strength to strength each
year.
In addition to the market stallholders on the Market Place, the Farmers
Market is now held at the other end of the town on the Castle Public House Car

Newport Pagnell and Olney Lions Club are major contributors to the
Dickens of a Christmas event when they run their major fund raising
activity, which takes the form of a Craft Fayre. Located in three
venues, the event brings together over 80 crafts people from around
the town and further afield. Events are also held in the Church Hall and an exhibition in the
Cowper and Newton Museum on the Market Place.
