Brand new supermarket in Olney would provide 160 jobs if plans go through

So for a while now there have been plans for a brand new Sainsbury’s Store right here in the center of Olney.

If the plans get the go ahead it would provide up to 160 new jobs for the locals living in and around Olney.

The current plans show that the proposed store will include a new petrol station and will sell a wide variety of products – mostly food – you normally find in a large scale supermarket. It will however not include a restaurant, pharmacy or any clothing area’s.

Next to this, the new Sainsbury store would of course be equipped with some of the latest state of the art green initiatives in order to reduce energy consumption of the enormous yet-to-be-built food store.

This includes things like on-site energy generation (solar cells) and recycling rainwater for common household chores.

According to the town’s council the store would ‘help to save people a lot of time and money by allowing them to do more and more shopping locally instead of traveling longer distances to do their groceries’.

The plans are yet to be finalized and the views of the local people will be taken into account by the council before the new food store will actually be built in the town center.
